milk foarmer

Hello, everyone! How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
Today, I will talk about nothing big or special.
But still I can't help but brag about my small discovery.
Last Sunday, I just dropped by a 100yen shop near my place to get something.
And found a milk foamer for cafe latte for mere 100yen.
I love coffee with a lot of milk and if milk is foarmed, I like it better.
I picked one of them without second thought.
But who believe a 100 yen milk foamer machine works well?
I certainly didn't, but bought one anyway just for satisfying my curiosity.
Guess what!?
The machine turned out to be great!!!
It works pretty nicely and foams milk super quickly.
I fell in love with my 100yen milk foamer.
If you find a milk foamer at a 100yen shop, please give it a try.
I bet your coffee time would be more pleasant:)
Hope you have a great week.

634 meters

Hello, this is Tomoko at Shimbashi Business Garden.

How's your weekend?

I wrote about highest mountain in Japan last week.
What the tallest structure do you think of when you think of Japan ?
Tokyo tower? Roppongi Hills? Ikebukuro Sunshine?

The answer is the TOKYO SKY TREE which reached its full height of 634 meters, located in Sumida ward,Tokyo.
It will be one of the world's tallest towers.

According to the official website,Tokyo Sky Tree will open on May 22,2012.
Last week, it was announced that online advance reservation of "Tokyo Skytree Web Ticket" starts from March 22.
To enter the Sky Tree,we have to make advance reservation from May 22 to July 10.
I think it must be very difficult to get the ticket.
If you are lucky enough to get the ticket, please give us impressions of view from the tallest tower.

I also found it difficult to take a picture from the ground.
I took this last year, but it's too high to catch all of them.

MILK for coffee

Hello, everyone. How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
Since last week, I have been having a minor cold.
Please be extra careful not to catch one yourself.
My topic today has nothing to do with my cold.
I will talk about my favorite stuff I have recently discovered at a shop.
I LOVE coffee. I mean, as a non-sophisticated taste bud owner such as myself, I love coffee with plenty of milk.
At the Starbucks, my order goes to a cup of latte without even take a glance of menu.
I usually make a cup of coffee with 4 portions of coffee creamer at home.
But recently I realized it's kind of expensive to always use portion creamer.
How I miss a big pack of " half and half" in the States!!
I was so excited to find a pack of milk called "コーヒーのためにつくったMILK( milk specially made for coffee)" by the Morinaga at a local super market near my place. Since it only cost around 180yen for 720ml, I decided to give it a try.
The result?
Well, It makes my coffee so creamy just like how the half and half works, only a bit lighter taste though.
I don't know since when this product was available, but I definitely keep buying it.
If you are from north America and haven't found any substitution for the half and half, I highly recommend this product!
Hope you have a great Sunday.

Anti aging

Hello, everyone. How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
Last week, one of our customers gave me a pack of powdered collagen, called Pure Collagen Gold, saying he is in charge of advertising the stuff.
I was sooo happy to have such a kind gesture from him, but later realized I could be falling on the league of anti-aging....... I never realized I came so far, but you know time is flying.
They say collagen keeps our skin young and healthy and it is responsible for our general health.
And your ability to produce collagen reaches to the top at 20 and after that it keeps going down... which means I have been on my downhill for a bit long time. Kind of scary.
Thank god, I got a package of collagen!!
This is how the package looks, kind gorgeous, isn't it?
You can dissolve about a table spoon of powder into your daily coffee a couple of time a day.
It doesn't require a lot of effort to keep taking.
I will see how it works:)
Hope you have a good week.

Climbing a mountain

This is Tomoko @Shimbashi Business Garden

Hello. How's your weekend?

I watched a variety show,"Sekai no hatemade ItteQ" on TV last night.

The TV show featured climbing Mt.Aconcagua that is the highest mountain in South America at 6,962m.
I was very impressed with magnificent mountain scenery and those who challenges the limits of their ability.

What about the highest mountain in Japan?
As you know,Mt. Fuji is Japan's highest peak with an altitude of 3,776m,which is a symbol for Japan.

I took this photo at Asagiri Kogen,Fujinomiya City,Shizuoka.

I tried to climb Mt.Fuji two years ago,but I couldn't reach the summit due to bad weather.
I think I'd like to try again this summer!!

We can see Mt.Fuji from Kanto area on a fine day.
Did you ever see it?

I LOVE bath

Hello, everyone.
How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.

February is certainly the coldest month in Japan.
But I have weird feeling that the coldest part has already gone.
I don't feel very cold lately, don't you feel the same way?

Anyway, please let me talk about bath today.
Do you like taking bath or you are one of those shower people even in the middle of winter?
I sure am a bath lover. Last year, I lived in a tiny and miserable apartment where I only had a unit style bath. You never know how I missed decent bathroom!!

Japanese bathroom is different from western style bathroom. I got impression through my stay at a couple of American families, that for western people, bath is bath and shower is shower. Shower and bath are not necessary considered as a pair. In Japan, however, shower space and a deep bathtub are combined in a bathroom. You clean yourself thoroughly in the shower space and then you let yourself soak into hot water in bathtub. I like setting water temperature at 42 degree Celsius. My bathtub has a function that keeps the water temperature at 42 degree automatically.
I sometimes take a long bath a couple of time a day during weekend. I even read in the bath.
It is surely refreshing and relaxing( and inexpensive;))
As long as there is a hot bath, I could stand cold winter:)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello, everyone! This is Maiko Yamada from the Yotsuya Business Garden.

I'll talk about JAXA which I visited the other day.
JAXA is the place where reserchers study aearospace technology, development, and application.
It is loacated in Tsukuba, Ibaraki pref.
I visited there because one of my friends is living vicinity!

There were some kinds of facility tours there and I joined one of them.
Attendant guided us the inside of facilities, and showed us the rocket which was active in past times.

We had a chance to see control room and exhibited objects.

I found a panel which some astronauts signed for disaster victims of earthquake.

Here is the photo!

This is the first time for me to visit JAXA, it was a precious time to see how reserchers study space.

You can visit facility tour there, please visit if you are interested in space.

Japanese Food : Yuzukosho

Hello, this is Tomoko @Shinjuku Business Garden.

How's your weekend?
I went home Fukuoka this weekend.
Fukuoka is located on the island of Kyushu.
There're a lot of delicious food in Kyushu island,
so I'd like to introduce my favorite condiment today.

Do you know what this is?
It's beautiful green isn't it?

This is Yuzukosho made in Nagasaki prefecture.
Yuzukosho is a spicy Japanese seasoning made from yuzu peel, salt and chili.
It is usually used as a condiment for nabe (Japanese one-pot dishes),noodles, sashimi and so on.
Whenever I eat nabe,I always have yuzukosho with it.

Yuzukosho is a speciality of the Kyushu island, but we can eat it in Tokyo nowadays.
If you find yuzukosho at a restaurant, please have a try it.

Valentin Day

Hello, everyone.
How are you doing this weekend?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.

If you were in Japan in this particular season, you might have noticed that
there are chocolate everywhere.
It's just a little chocolate heaven in the basement of department stores called " Depachika", with all beautifully rapped high-brand chocolate gifts.

I know you gentlemen would find it nice, as Japanese Valentin Day is the day when women give chocolate to men contrary to the western country's custom.
We women give Valentine gift to men, mainly out of love, friendship and of course sometimes out of duty..... If you work for a Japaneses company, I bet you would get at least one box of chocolate from a female coworker. You have to be smart enough to tell what is the hidden message behind the gift though. I will give you a clue, if the chocolate looks small and cheap, it is most likely just nice gesture but if the gift looks gorgeous, it might contain deeper meaning than that;)

Japanese Valentin might be a heaven for men. Please remember, however, if you get some gifts on the Valentin Day, you are bound to give some gifts back to those women who have given you chocolate on March 14th called the White Day.

Hope you have a great Sunday.

Today is....

Hi, this is hitomi @ Shinjuku Business Garden.

It rained this week!
I thought that was good rain cuz too dry this winter.

Anyway, do you know what day it is today?
February 11th is the National Foundation Day.

"According to the Japanese historical legend, on this day in the year 660 BC,
Emperor Jinmu, the first Emperor of Japan, built his capital in the Yamato
district, Nara Prefecture now.
It was celebrated as Kigensetsu, the day of origin, only until the end of World War Ⅱ,
and was discontinued after the war because there's no real historical basis for it.
But it was designated a national holiday in 1967"

We have thousands of history, so the National Foundation Day is based on legend:o
It remind us Japanese culture and tradition today.

Aromatherapy

Hello, this is Maiko Yamada from the Yotsuya Business Garden.

Today, I will talk about aromatherapy.
I really like and have various types of them for relaxing.

Aromatherapy is that the perfume component originating in a plant, flower, and trees.
It was 1980's when it was introduced in Japan.
Nowadays, Japanese people use it for relaxing not only trend but also everyday use.

I'll introduce my favorite aroma oil;

This is make your skin moisturize and also prevent from drying.
It shpes like a pensil, so you can use it anytime you want if you take it in a pocket or a pouch. This is really convenient!!

If you are interested in it, try it and good bye for dry skin;)

BABY!

Hello, everyone? How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
I am SO excited! I can't contain my excitement today even at work.
Can you guess why? It's because my sister is giving a birth tomorrow!!!!
The doctor says it probably is a baby girl. But no guarantee so far.
I don't really care if it is a boy or girl. Just hope it's a healthy baby.
Well, as you know, Japan enjoy universal national health insurance system.
There are complicated exceptional rules, such as Benefits for High-cost Medical Care, but if I skip explaining those rules, basically national health insurance means you are only responsible to cover 30% of actual medical cost.
But national health insurance wouldn't be applied in case of health check up, preventive medicine such as vaccination, and pregnancy.
You might have been surprised to find out pregnancy is ruled out from the national insurance coverage.
Don't worry because there are other public help systems out there!
Usually when a woman visits a doctor for pregnancy check for the first time, even the doctor confirms pregnancy, the medical cost wouldn't be covered by insurance. Because pregnancy is not medical problem. It happens to normal healthy women as they think. But right after the pregnancy confirmation, you can get check-up tickets at your city hall. My city currently provides 14 tickets to a pregnant woman. It means your 2nd to final maternity check ups would be covered by the public system.
Delivery is also ruled out from the national insurance coverage, as you can guess, but there is also another public system. You can get refund of delivery cost from the insurance up to 420,000yen per one baby.
That means if you have twin, your delivery cost will be refunded up to 840,000yen!!!
It's funny because national health insurance wouldn't cover the delivery cost, but refund the delivery cost later on, kind complicated.
To conclude above scattered explanations, there are many public help for maternity women in Japan.
Personally I think that's the way things should be as no one would have baby if we have to cover all those cost by ourselves. If you have a chance to have a baby in Japan, remember to utilize public help system.
Hope you have a great week.
