In the middle of the goldish Golden Week... !

Hello everyone! This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden!

For those of you who are in the middle of the Golden Week holidays, how was your first half of the long holidays? Time flies and fun times fly even faster... I know.
Did you go somewhere special or go back to your hometown maybe? I'm planning to go back to my hometown on this Thursday after work, and I'm already so excited to see my family and friends!
When I booked a round Shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Kobe about a week ago, there were only a couple of seats left, and I was so lucky to get it at the last minute... ! They told me that it's better to book tickets at least a month in advance for holiday trips like during the Golden Week and the Obon week... !

Anyway, have a safe and nice rest of the holidays and see you on next Tuesday!

Drinking Party in the Park.

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

I joined a drinking party (Nomikai in Japanese) the other day.
It's held in the park and almost a hundred people get together!

The concept of this Nomikai is the prefectures of Japan.

In Japan, there are 47 prefectures.
We set picnic seats like the shape of Japanese islands.
Then start drinking from the place we are born.

I was born in Ymaguchi prefecture and I found some people who lived near from my house.

Everyone brought foods and sweets of their hometown well-known products.

This is "Dassai" Japanese rice wine(sake) from Yamaguchi prefecture!!

If you like alcohol, it's really delicious so please try it!

This is........

Moray eel....from Wakayama prefecture.

It's fried and sweetened, but the taste was..... some people may like it.

Near from the park we could see the Sky Tree!!

See you on next Thursday!!

Ryoko

What kind of drink is this?

Hi, this is Shibuya Business Garden.

Would you prefer coffee or (green) tea?
This is tea made of coffee beans!

It says there is no caffeine and houji-cha, roasted green tea, flavor.
So...is this a bottle of tea with roasted green tea flavor
made from coffee beans with no caffeine?
I wonder how Nescafe came up with this idea.

I got this at the Shinjuku station as a distribution sample and
to be honest, it didn't taste good at all.

By the way, Hoshino Coffee Shop has opened near Shibuya Business Garden last week.
They have fascinating souffle pancakes that attract me the most.

I haven't had a chance yet, but definitely will go there in one of these days!

Reading on a train

Hello everyone!

This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden.

Long train commutes are stressful, but reading books is one of a few things that we can enjoy while we're on a train. I love reading books, especially those by Japanese authors. So after coming back to Japan, I enjoy reading books whenever I have some time to kill. Currently I'm reading a novel called ''1Q84'' written by Haruki Murakami, one of the most famous authors in contemporary Japanese literature. The book was published about 3 years ago and immediately became a big hit throughout the world. As the author says that it's the longest story among all the book he's written so far, it consists of 6 volumes in total. I'm still reading the first volume, but I'm already so into the unique perceptions of the characters and can't wait to read it on my way back home tonight!

Have a wonderful rest of the day and see you on the next Tuesday!

Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro!

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

I went to the Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro the other day.
This aquarium is built in the skyscraper "Sunshine City".

You can see earless seals from the bottom!
They looked so comfortable under the sunshine.

Feeding show was really beautiful.

This aquarium is in the center of Sunshine Street so it's quite easy to drop by.

See you on next Thursday!!

Hello everyone!

This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden.

I know it’s still way too early but now that the cherry blossom season is over, I did fireworks with my housemates last weekend... ! Since it was not legal to do fireworks in California where I was living, it was my first time to do it in the past 10 years and I was so exited! My housemates from overseas, needless to say, seemed to have so much fun too. My favorite is Senko Hanabi, which is very quiet and beautiful and makes us calm as it sparkles very softly.

There are still more than a couple of months before the best fireworks season, but I’m already excited to plan which fireworks festivals to go this summer... !

(Fireworks are not allowed in some places so please check the place before doing it : ))

Have a good rest of the week and see you on next Tuesday!

Ramen

Hi, Thiis Miiki from Shibuya Business Garden.

Did everyone try ramen in Japan?
There are people addicted to ramen, and they even eat ramen
3 times a day.

Japanese ramen is a wheat noodle with fish or chicken based broth
flavored soy sauce, miso, shio etc.
They come with varieties of topping such as sliced pork,
boiled egg, dried seaweed....and many others!

Japanese ramen got really popular dish in other countries these days.
Like in New York, there is Ippudo which is well known for its
tonkotu, pork born broth, ramen.

People eat ramen kind of quick and go, but they take very long time
eating ramen in overseas.
Don't they worry that noodle will stretch out while taking time to eat?

I do not eat ramen often, but once in a while I just can't help having it.
Waitress: Would you like large helping of ramen? It's free for the limited time!
Me: Oh why not? I'll have one:P

Patissier in the house!

Hello everyone!

I’m Takashima, and I started to work for Shinjuku Business Garden from this April!

I was living in the U.S. for the past 8 years and came back to Japan last fall. After spending some time with my family and friends in my home town, Kobe, I moved to Tokyo about a month ago, and now I’m living in the west suburb of Tokyo with 15+ people from all over the world who have nothing in common but a suitcase with dreams in it. They are all adorable and interesting people, and they also have unique backgrounds. One of them used to work as a pastry chef, and he made a birthday cake for our birthday girl last night!

Very professional isn’t it? Of course it tasted awesome!

Anyway, like many of the visitors here, I’m pretty new to the area, and I’m so excited to share my fun findings in my brand new life in Tokyo with you all here!

See you on next Tuesday!

Small Presents! ⑥ Cigarette ?

Hello, This is Megumi at Business Garden Yotsuya Annex.

The cherry blossom season in Tokyo has almost gone!
Did you attend the Hanami Party?
To my regret, but I missed it last week.

This box looks like a cigarette, but it is not.

’Neo Cedar’ is a kind of cough medicine and it is not a smoking-cessation drug.

One of my husband's friends gave him this because of he was worried about his health.

However, some people say it is not good for the health for its chemical material on website.

After all, my husband has smoked his favorite tobacco, 'Mild Seven'!

Traveling in Philippines

Hi, This is Yuki from Business Garden Yotsuya Annex?

Have you ever been to  the Philippines??

I took the above picture from a hotel in Mactan Island (Cebu).

There are so many resort hotels located on the coast.
You can do attractions such as diving and snorkeling, also you can join the day tour (going to Bohol Island or Cebu City)

The Philippines used to be a Spanish colony.
So if you walk in the town (especially Manila) its easy to see.

The Philippines are an archipelago of 7,107 islands!

The two most famous places in Philippines are Manila (Capital city) and Cebu.
However, if you want to stay near a beautiful beach, you should go Palawan Island and Boracay Island!!!

Most local people can speak fluent English and are very kind.
I'm sure you can travel easily and enjoy all the Philippines has to offer.

If you haven't been there, you should go one day!!

Enjoyable Holiday!

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

Last Sunday, I went to Shinjyuku Piccadilly Cinema  and watched a new film "Sugar Rush"!

I didn't know most of the American characters, but I did recognize "Kuppa" which was the villain of "Super Mario"!! He reminded me of my nostalgic memory.

I guess new animation films are in trend of  3D. Tickets are a tittle bit expensive, but I really enjoy it!! However, the only one thing that troubled me was the prints of 3D glasses on my nose.
They didn't disappear for a few hours.

See you on next Thursday!!

Cat Cafe

Hi, how's everyone?
This is Shibuya Business Garden.

Did you enjoy cherry blossoms?
They are almost gone this year.

Today I will tell you about cat cafe, neko jalala, in Akihabara.

I fell in love with this cuuuuute ragdoll.
Her name is Taki.

Ragdoll looks so much like raccoon dog!
According to the cat cafe's blog, her name, Taki, came from Tanuki
which means raccoon dog in Japanese. hahaha

You'll see how cute she is.
This little house made of corrugated fiberboard box is her favorite.

I always wonder why cats love boxes made of  corrugated fiberboard.
