Interesting Japanese custom Vol.26 "E-mail Symbols in Japan"

Hi, I'm Takeuchi from the Shimbashi Business Garden.

Japanese often use a symbol, writing an e-mail.
The symbol is used to express a feeling briefly than text.
It also has light tone, so especially younger people prefer to use it.

Even if there is no symbol, we may express our feeling with only one Chinese character such as (笑-smile ) (泣-tear) etc.
A feeling may also be expressed using a face mark like (^o^).
I think the reason why symbols are used in Japan is because of the popularity of comics and anime.

However, cautions are required!
It is used only in close relationship and don't use it in formal sentence!

Shichi-Go-San Lunch

Hi, this is Hitomi @ Shinjuku Business Garden.

Did you have a good weekend?
I had a big lunch with my family on last Sunday
we celebrated Shichi-Go-San for my cousin's daughter
who became 3 years old.

Shichi-Go-San literally means seven five three.
When children reach these age, we celebrate their growth and pray for their future well-being.
On Shichi-Go-San, children are beautifully dressed in traditional kimono and taken to a shrine

She also got dressed up traditional Japanese kimono.
To my surprise, This kimono was mine.
I wore it when I was 3 years old!! lol
My grandmum has kept my kimono close to home since I was 3 years old...long time...

Shichi-Go-San and Kimono, I experienced traditional Japanese culture that day.

Interesting Japanese custom Vol.25 "The Maid Cafe in Japan"

Hi, I'm Takeuchi from the Shimbashi Business Garden.

The maid cafe is the cafe which a staff in maid's uniform entertains the customer
Many maid cafes have been open in Akihabara from several years ago.
And it became popular all over the country
Recently, It is not only in Japan but can also be found in China, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Although only a few people are going there before, it became to be the one of tourist spots now.
We can not only meet the maid but also enjoy playing games together in some spots.
Is it the reason why this shop's popular that allows people to spend time with lovely Ms. Maid and she accepts what we ask in virtual space?

I have also been there only once.
It was very fun.
Is it also the one of the culture in Japan?

Interesting Japanese custom Vol.24 "Cosplay in Japan"

Hi, I'm Takeuchi from the Shimbashi Business Garden.

In Japan, anime, games, comics, etc. are popular in young generation's culture.
Imitating the character's clothes and actions is getting popular.
It is called cosplay (costume play).
The number of persons who participate in cosplay is increasing year by year.

Akihabara is a Japanese cosplayer's holy place.
Many cosplayers can be seen in Akihabara like in restaurants, shops and so on.

Now, cosplay is not only very popular in Japan but also in Western countries, South Korea, and China.
I think the reason is that the character of anime and games is close in their daily life.

In the event, cosplayer enjoys appearing in their costume and taking a photo.
Also, they can make many friends and exchange their information.
It is one of fun in the cosplay.

Restaurants near Yotsuya Business Garden ③ char- grilled fish restaurant 'Sakamoto'

Hello,
I am Meg in Yotsuya Business Garden.
I'll introduce you to quite a new restaurant in Yotsuya.
The restaurant’s name is ‘Sakamoto’. Their main menu are char- grilled fishes.

The location is 2 doors away from Lawson on Sanei-dori.
Did you notice that the first floor of the building had renovation work?
It was ‘Sakamoto’. This renovation work had delayed because of the lack of the materials by Higashinion earthquakes had happened.

This is a set menu of char- grilled fish ‘Gin-Mutsu’ which is recommended by the owner of the restaurant.

They have set menus with several kinds of grilled fishes.

When I went to this restaurant, their menus were Pacific saurys, salmons, and mackeres.
This restaurant has mainly counter sheets, but they have a big electric ventilating fan, so I didn’t mind the smoke and smell.

The fish restaurant on Shinmichi-dori is also good, but I am bothered by lots of smoke and smell.
I am most pleased by with the plenty of Daikon Oroshi, and furthermore free refills of Daikon Oroshi.
Daikon Oroshi has a lot of enzyme, so I would like to eat it.

Hot cooked rice and miso soup with freshwater clam were also tasty!
If you want to eat a seasonal grilled fish, I recommend you this restaurant.

Autumn leaves

Hi, this is Hitomi @ Shinjuku Business Garden.

Have you ever been to Sengokuhara Hakone in this season?
November is the best season for Susuki(Japanese pampas grass) autumn leaves.

The pampas grass fields at Sengokuhara are one of
"Kanagawa's best 50 scenic spots".
From early to late autumun, the plumes of the pampas glow gold in sunlight like a golden carpet.
That is breathtaking land scape!!

If you are interested, you should visit to Hakone Sengokuhara.
You won't regret it!!

Restaurants near Yotsuya Business Garden ② Fried meat &seafood restaurant‘Katsuretsu Yotsuya Takeda’

Hello,
I'm Meg at Yotsuya Business Garden.

I recommend a nice restaurant for lunch near Yotsuya Business Garden today.

This restaurant was a famous casual western style restaurant ‘Youshoku Elysee’ before,
It was closed the end of September, and reopened as an only fried meat and seafood restaurant.

I went to this new restaurant last week.
This photo is a Fried mix set menu including fried oysters 2 pieces,
Fried Shrimp 1 piece, Fried fish 1 piece.

It has still tasted great!
One of my favorites in this restaurant is plain rice.

Hambaagus and Omu-rices was removed from their new menu.
The restaurant owner said that they would like to served the most delicious fried meat and seafood in a new restaurant.

‘Katsuretsu Yotsuya Takeda’ is always crowded, but you can relatively get a table about 6 pm and 9pm.

I am worried about taking too many calories in this restaurant, but I would like to go to eat sometimes.

Interesting Japanese custom Vol.22 "The Japanese Way of Waiting in Line"

Hi, this is Takeuchi from the Shimbashi business garden

In Japan, you wait in line everywhere.
For example, buying something at the department store, getting on a train, using a toilet or ATM, etc.

Japanese people are accustomed to lining up in a calm manner as part of our social life since childhood.
If you see that a line is long, it also means it's popular.
Maybe, the food served at that restaurant is very delicious or the amusement facilities are fun.

Of course, It's very hard for us to wait for a long time.
However, just thinking that it would be fun, then it is worth the wait.
