The Japan Derby

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

The 26th of May was the 80th anniversary day of the Japan Darby!

I went to Roppongi Hills Darby event.

A huge stature and a real horses welcomed people.

Pony carriages were so cute!!

The official character of Darby "Tarffy-kun" and Hello Kitty joined the event.

I especially enjoyed the "virtual Derby challenge cup", which was the race of virtual horses.

The race was show on the big screen on the stage, and we bet on the horse for free.

If you win, you can get a drink.

However, horses looked something wrong with the appearance!!

The one on the very left has two persons inside!

I'll write more about this race next week.
Please look forward to it!

See you on next Thursday.

Ben & Jerry's

Hi, this is Shibuya Business Garden.

As the summer gets closer, you might see a waiting line in front of ice cream shops.
We have almost 2 months raining season before summer though.

What's your favorite ice cream?

Baskin-Robbins has been probably No.1 famous ice cream shop in Japan for many years.
When I was in the U.S, I was addicted to cappuccino blast, and had it everyday.
It's kind of funny that I remembered it after 20 years.
By the way, my favorite flavor is Rocky Road since I was little.

It was unfortunate that haagen-dazs shops in Japan are all closed.
You can still get it in a convenience stores and super markets though.

Ben & Jerry's shop was just across the street from my apartment, and
I stopped by often When living in the U.S.

I had Cherry Garcia at the shop opened last summer in Kichijoji.
Ice cream has to be with sugar corn not a cup:P

River night

Hello everyone! This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden.

It's been getting hotter in the daytime, and summer is just around the corner... unfortunately. It's been a long time since I stayed in Japan during the summer season, but I still remember that I was sweating like a pig for doing nothing but just standing on a platform waiting for my train to come everyday.

But fortunately there are some people who feel the same and are already scared of this coming summer in my shared house. Most of them are from overseas and still haven't got used to this super humid weather. So we went to a river called KARABORI-GAWA near our shared house the other night to cool off : )

We enjoyed the cool fresh air and skipping rocks in the river. By the way, skipping rocks is called MIZU-KIRI in Japanese (which I didn't remember and had to google... ) Anyway, it was very nice to know that there're at least some places where we can escape from the heat near our house during the summer season!

See you and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Design Festa!

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

Last week, I went to the Design Festa!

This event is one of the biggest art events in Japan.

What kind of people you can find is....

like

HIM!!

Also, you can see dynamic paintings and interesting artists.

I loved this the best!

This was the wooden-plate engraving.
The artist painted vivid colours on it.

I wanted to buy but it was too expensive for me...

I ate Grenn Thai curry and rice.

What a lovely day!!

See you on next Thursday!

Shibuya Lunch

Hi, this is  Shibuya Business Garden.

Have you been to Hoshino Coffee where is just a minutes from Shibuya Business Garden?
The coffee shop opened recently and it is my best lunch place so far.

I got lucky because there was only one table left on the non-smoking 2nd floor, and
I had this big table and privacy just for my self.

I had a Japanese croquette plate for my lunch today.
You can choose either rice or toast.

And of course..... a cup of hot Hoshino blend coffee after the plate.

Pho for lunch!

Hello everyone! This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden.

I've been working at our Shibuya Business Garden once or twice a week recently, and it's always fun to explore good places to eat in a new place!
I usually bring my lunch and eat it at the office, but once in a while I go out for lunch to pamper myself.

I don't really hang out in Shibuya and am totally new to the area, so my coworker took me out to lunch at her favorite Pho place COM PHO after we got off work at Shibuya Business Garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

I ordered their collagen pho which has a lot of veggies, small dried shrimps, and red ginger in their special white chicken soup and also a small bowl of curry and rice! Yummm! It was so good!

The restaurant is located in Shibuya Tokyu Plaza, and it's just a few minutes away from Shibuya Business Garden! It'll definitely be one of my lunch options on my "pamper myself" day in Shibuya : )

See you and have a great rest of the week!

My favorite restaurants in Tokyo ② French Sac

Hello, this is Meg from Yotsuya Business Garden.

Which towns do you like best in Tokyo?
I like Kichijyoji!  I have loved to go to Kichijyouji since when I was High school student.
And my university was in Kichijyoji, I have a lot of good memories about Kichijyoji.
Actually my first date was in Kichijyoji.

Now, I introduce you French restaurant near the south exit of Kichijyoji Station.

The name of restaurant is French Sac.

This is the first dish as appetizers.

The second dish is fish with some arranged potatoes.

My sister took me there.
She loves to research nice restaurants always by Internet.
Sometimes her choice is very good, but sometimes no good, but we have enjoyed this bet.

French Sac is very delicious, but it is not expensive.
Please try this restaurant!

Theater in Kawasaki

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

I went to Kawasaki last Sunday to watch the Japanese film "Library Wars".

I love this building!! The rainbow colours change as you see.

Then, I went here! "WAREHOUSE"

This is like an amusement park and there are sports area(golf, table tennis, darts), karaoke area, manga cafe, video arcade area.

What I was really surprised was the interior decorations.

Which is this!

Probably this is Chinese so I couldn't understand what this means.

Unusual place, isn't it?

See you on next Thursday!

Imported grocery store

Hi, how are you?
This is Shibuya Business Garden.

Have you been to imported grocery stores in Japan?
I bet most of you have and think of Costco.

There are smaller stores compare to Costco such as Kaldi,
Seijo ishii, and so on.
They are located near train stations which is pretty useful to
those who don't drive to go to Costco.

There is a unique one in Kichijoji, Carnival.
They mainly have American kitchen items, coffee beans, cheese,
hams, wine, and Asian food.

Though this small store is not one of chain stores such as Kaldi nor
located in near station, it is always clouded by many shoppers.

What's different is that they have mall deli inside of the store.
Unlike Dean&Deluca, it is more like home made taste.
No eating space inside but you can take out.

This small store reminds me of the grocery stores owned by
Chinese or Koreans in Manhattan.
You don't see them these days.... I guess most of them are gone
as the price of real estate goes up in Manhattan.

If you have a chance to visit Kichijoji, check this store out.

My favorite restaurants in Tokyo ① Waketokuyama

Hello, this is Meg from Yotsuya Business Garden.
I like to go to eat something delicious in all kinds of foods.
I think I am so happy to live in Tokyo because there are many nice restaurants and there are gathered many types of restaurants from all over the world!

Do you know how many Michelin's stars restaurants are there in Tokyo?
The answer is that One star are 14、Two stars are 53, Three stars are 175, total are 242. So nice!
These restaurants will be very good,  but they are so expensive for me.
I cannot go to them frequently.

Anyway,  in this blogs,  I introduce my favorite several restaurants in Tokyo.
These beautiful dishes are Japanese boxed lunch in Waketokuyama restaurant of the hotel intercontinental Tokyo bay!

I think they got the Michelin's three stars in 2007, but now they were lost.

At dinner time, this restaurant is very expensive, maybe in more than 20,000yen, but at lunch time, you can enjoy the dishes under 5000 yen!

They have three restaurants in Tokyo;  the locations are in Takebashi (this hotel)
, Iikura and  the Shinjyuku- Isetan.

These are very delicious!
I really would like to go again!

Lunch Cruise!

Hello everyone! This is Takashima from Shinjuku Business Garden.

How was your holiday weekend? Getting back to work after a long holiday weekend, I'm sure that I was one of those who had sleepy faces on a train this morning.

I went back to my hometown on last Thursday by Shinkansen, and it was my first time to see that many people with suitcases at Shinagawa station. The train was so packed that there was even no wagon services for food and beverages on the non-reserved cars!

Since I could imagine that there would be so many people no matter where I went, and I thought it could only make me tired (and yes, I wanted to save some money too), I was just chilling at home and having lunch with my friends at the nearest cafe (which I really enjoyed), but I just wanted to do something special. So on the 3rd day, I went on a lunch cruise for the first time in my life, and it was just awesome! Having lived in Kobe for about 20 years, I had never seen the city from the ocean, and I felt so proud that I was born and raised in such a beautiful city : )

I hope you all had great GW holidays and have a good rest of the week!

Hie Shrine

Hi,

This is Ryoko from Yotsuya Business Garden.

This room includes telephone answering service, mail receiving service, fast internet access and a cabinet with keys.

If you want more information, please call us 03-3358-1913

By the way, I went to the Hie Shrine near the Tameike-Sanou station.

What I wanted to see is.......

THIS!!

Really really beautiful, isn't it?

I saw this on TV and couldn't stop visiting there.

This shrine is designated as a First Class Government shrine before the Second World War, and was a highly respected place of worship for the people of Tokyo.

I fortunately saw the wedding ceremony!

I loved the bride dress(it's called Shiro-muku)!!

Cute looking Vietnamese cookie

Hi this is Shibuya Business Garden.

Is everyone enjoying GW ?
Here in Japan, it is called Golden Week and many people take
paid time off traveling to overseas.

One of our clients brought us this cute cookies as a Vietnamese souvenir.

It looks like a person wearing Non La, which means leaf hat.
And it tastes good! Not too sweet but little coconut flavor!
