Keep fit program on the radio

Hello, every one!
How are you doing today?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
Have you ever heard of Radio Taiso(keep fit program on the radio)?
On last Sunday, I needed to do an errand in early morning and went to the station near my place.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning and the neighborhood was still quiet.
But on my way to the station, I heard a music from somewhere.
I looked around and grinned realizing it was the sound of the radio Taiso.
At a construction site, stuff members were doing exercise in rhythm from the radio.
This particular keep fit program on the radio has LONG history here in Japan, and without exaggerating,
people in any generation in Japan probably can perform this exercises.
While in an elementary school, I( as well as all kids) had to attend this program which started at 6:30 am every morning during summer vacations.
Kids went there with their eyes still half closed.
Many parents also attended to this program together with kids.
People do this exercises not so much for real excised purpose as for self-discipline, refreshing mind and have a productive day.
I haven't done this excise for more than 15 years.
But it might be a good idea to try before I go to work in the morning for refreshing mind.
Hope you have a smooth week.

SAKURA is about to bloom!

Hello, everyone!
How are you doing today?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.

Today on my way to the station, I noticed the tip of twigs of Cherry Blossom are getting somehow whitish colored.
This realization made my heart dance!
You know what is coming? Yes! SAKURA( cherry blossom) is about to bloom.
Sakura is definitely the most beloved flower in Japan.
Once Sakura is in bloom, parks in all over the country are packed with people.
We love to have picnic or party under the sakura.
Since people love sakura so much, TV news and news papers announce Sakura bloom forecast just like weather forecast in daily base.
This year they say Sakura will start blooming on March 31st.
Just one week ahead!
SOOOOO exciting!!
Hope you have a nice Sunday.

LIVING JAPANESE STYLE 'KAFUNSHO'

Hello, this is masa at Shibuya Business Garden.

From March to May, many Japanese wear white masks
made of gauze when they go out.

Some even wear glasses and hats to protect themselves from pollen,
which causes various uncomfortable symptoms
such as a runny nose, headaches, and itchy eyes.

When floating pollen in the air mixes with dust and
exhaust from automobiles, it causes kafunsho.

Ultraviolet Rays

Hello, everyone.
How are you?
Today is a holiday. Yay!!
Lately it's getting warmer and sunshine definitely started to change from that of winter's.
It is so exciting to welcome spring but warmer temperature unavoidably accompany stronger sunshine.
Most Japanese women are so keen to keep their skin as pale as possible.
It is opposite to the mainstream attitude of western women. I was surprised to know many girls put dark colored powder to make them look as if they are freshly sun tanned.

I had never bothered to protect my skin from Ultraviolet Rays till last year,
but I changed my mind when I realized my face got a lot of freckles compared to my teen' s days.
And they say Ultraviolet Rays cause your skin premature aging and skin cancer.
When I was a kid, grown ups told us sunshine makes us healthy and strong though....
I don't like the particular texture of most sunscreen which is oily and heavy.
But I found there are many sunscreens which is oil free and chemical free.
If you are in Japan now and haven't gotten a sunscreen yet, you should make a trip to a drag store where you would find wide selections. I bet you could find your favorite.
Hope you have a great holiday!

Red Brick Street,Shimbashi

Hello, this is Tomoko at Shimbashi Business Garden.

How's your weekend?

Today,I'd like to talk about the street near our office.
That is Aka Renga Dori. (Red Brick Street)

When I walked along Aka renga dori every day,I always wondered why people call this street Aka renga dori (Red brick street).
The street, of course, is paved in red color brick, but this is not responsible for its name.

Can you guess it?

From the Edo era to the Meiji era, there're lots of fires around this area.
It because most houses were built of wood.
Then, the Meiji government decided to build houses with stones and bricks to prevent fires.
That's why people call it this street Aka renga dori.

When you come to Shimbashi Business Garden, how about walking along Aka renga dori?

See you next week.

Commute

Hello, how are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.

How do you commute to and from work?
I guess if you live in country side, you might use your company's car or your private car, but if you live in urban area, you are bound to commute by train, subway or bus.
I commute using the Tokyu-line which is very convenient to get to Shibuya from Kanagawa prefecture with a train arrives at your station almost every 2 minutes if you don't mind using local train.
It is always so cramped during rush hour. When I was on my way to work last week, the Tokyu-line suffer minor trouble with electric generator, and only served local train service.
You know what would happen in that situation?

Well, all the people who usually take rapid make mad dash to local trains and local train become an instant battle field. So many people! So incredibly cramped!!
I couldn't even move my left arm and still I fought to keep my grip on my bag.
When I reached the Shibuya station finally, I felt exhausted.
And at my lunch break, I found my banana completely smashed.

Oh, well, this is the way my life goes sometimes.
But still you can't resist life in Tokyo!!

Hope you have a great Sunday.

How to save your money!

Hello, everyone.
This is Maiko Yamada from the Shimbashi Business Garden.

Do you save your money deliberately?

As of an article, it seems that there are some hints!

#1 Accumulate funds

People tend to use one's money when they fund it in a ordinary account, that's why it's better to accumulate in a fixed deposit account.

#2 Keep a record of one's expenses

If you keep a record what you have got, you can see waste points.

#3 Recheck your housing expenditure, insurance, and so on

If you pay 10,000yen per month for insurance, it might be better to choose other insurance company like Todofu Kenmin Kyosai. You can pay around 2,000yen per month if you utilize it.

#4 Rethink about your rewards
Women tend to cost money for nail salon, beauty shop, leisure and so on.
You can have another look at it, you'll have save money.

#5 Have another accumulate funds

Sometimes, you will be invited ceremonial functions and you'll have extraordinary disbursement.
Just for safety sake, it recommend you to open another fixed deposit account.

What do you think?
That's natural, however, it is difficult sometimes...
I need to rethink of it!

new habit after the great earthquake

Hello, everyone. How are you?
This is Rumi from the Shibuya Business Garden.
Almost one year has past since the Tōhoku earthquake hit north east Japan.
Great number of irreplaceable lives were lost and still a lot of people are suffering in the affected area.
Today however, I will talk about my newly developed habit after the earthquake.
If you experienced the earthquake, I'm sure you remember as well about paper shortage.
I don't know how it ever happened but tissue and toilet paper were gone from all shops all over Japan.
Many people did mad purchase of those stuff out of fear.
As I have terrible nasal inflammation all the time, tissue is MUST item for me.(You can at least find 10 packages of pocket tissue in my bag.)
I was super nervous about my running-out tissue stock.
Miracley, tissue and toilet paper started to show up at shops before I had run out of stock though.
I know this is very silly of me, but I can't feel comfortable unless my storage is full of tissue.
But they say we should stock emergency provisions which can feed yourself at least for 3 days.
So my emergency tissue collection should be justified as I can't survive without tissue;)
Hope you have a smooth week!
