Hi, This is Ryoko from Shimbashi Business Garden.
Do you like Japanese sweets?
There is a famous sweets shop near the Shimbashi Business Garden.
"Shinsei-do" has started since 1911, longer than 100 years ago!
They sell very unique sweets and they are often used as presents for their business partners.
This one is called "Seppuku Monaka ".
It means to perform a "Hara-kiri" (ritual suicide by self-disembowelment on a sword).
Hara-kiri was a strict rule in the spirit of Samurai and they had to suicide when they make a huge failure.
Don't worry!! It was only the Civil Wars period.
People in this period uses this "Seppuku Monaka " sweets to show their sincere apologies in business.
The sweets express that "I am so sorry. I want to do Seppuku to apologize you."
It's a Japanese joke and the person might forgive you.
See you on next Wednesday.
