LIVING JAPANESE STYLE ' MATSURI '

Hello, this is masa at Shibuya Business Garden.

The events common to all areas of Japan,
thousands of local festivals take place throughout the year,
and you are sure to find some near where you are staying or living.

Anyone can take part in the dancing known as ' bon-odori'.
Just join the circle and copy what everyone else is doing,
keeping in time with the 'min-yo' music in the background.

Some festivals feature huge parades and processions,
Some of these are modern, with marching bands, trick motorcyclists,
and cheer girls, while some are traditional, with the participants dressed in
historical costume.
A familiar sight at traditional festivals is the 'mikoshi', or "portable shrine."
These festivals make excellent subjects for camera or video.
