There is a well-known animation company "Studio Ghibli" in Japan.
They have produced famous films such as "My Neighbor Totoro",
"Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind", "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away".
Have you seen any of them?
Last week, one of their films "The tale of princess Kaguya" was on TV and I watched it.
The original story is a "The tale of the Bamboo-Cutter".
Here is the summary(Please pass if you don't want to know the end)
Long, long ago, an old bamboo-cutter found a shining bamboo and he also found a girl-baby in it.
He and his wife named her "Kaguya Hime(princess Kaguya)" and decided to raise her like their own child.
Kaguya Hime grew up a very beautiful lady.
Hearing of her beauty, many young men from many places visited to propose her.
However, she never showed her interest in them.
Then she told her parents the truth that she was born on the moon and had to return.
On the very day, everyone tried to stop her, but they fell into sleep.
Angels came down over the house among from the light of the moon.

Kaguya Hime was taken to the moon.
