Zunda mochi

One of our clients brought us a sweet gift from Sendai.

This is called Zunda mochi, which is a rice cake covered in sweetened mashed green soy beans.

Zunda is a paste made from young soybeans.

Those beans are harvested earlier than the ordinary beans so that the paste made from Zunda has more fresh flavor.

It is sweetened with sugar and matches for desserts like rice cakes.


Sendai is famous for Zunda and you may want to try when you visit there!
