Toshikoshi soba noodle

Hi!

This is Ryoko from Yostuya Business Garden.

Time has gone so quickly and the end of 2013 is almost there.

It has very important meaning for Japanese people to pass and
to change to the new year.

There are some customs and traditions.
Towards the end, we start to clean up our houses and offices
to welcome a new year with clean place.

Then, we eat soba(buckwheat) noodle on the night of 31st of December.

Why soba noodle?

It's because we wish for the longevity and the health of the whole family .

On the 1st of January, it's a new year!!!

You may be surprise at the Japanese people that they are so excited.

Everyone's smiling and children are full of joy because they receive
"Otoshidama".(it means a pocket money)

See you on next Thursday and wish you a happy new year!

Ryoko
