Shinjuku "Eisa Festival"

Hello!

Today "Eisa, dance of the Ryukyu Islands" is held in Shinjuku.

Eisa is a form of folk dance unique to the people of the Ryukyu Islands.

Though regarded today as entertainment, the Eisa originally had an important religious function of giving repose to the dead.

Visitors can experience traditional Japanese activities such as flower arranging and tea ceremonies traditional performing arts.

and last for two or three hours.


If you go to see a baseball game

since this is where the home team's supporters sit.
The visiting team's supporters are on the left
or third-base side.


You don't have to leave your seat to get refreshments

Today, I'd like to tell about Metropolitan Yumenoshima Tropical Botanical

Garden's event.

The location is the 15-minute walk from Shin-Kiba Station on the Keiyo Line,

Yurakucho Line, Rinkai Line.

Tropical Dream Island Botanical Garden will host an exhibition Bussan Amami

between July 22 to 24.

The exhibition bussan Amami will sell specialty products of Amami.

You will be able to try the Amami's bluefin tuna bowl and chicken bowl.

They will also sell the Amami's brown sugar Shochu.

Tokyo New Trend ⑥ Korean Town in Shin-Okubo

Hello,　

I am Meg at Yotsuya Busienss Garden.

Today’s theme is Shin-Okubo Korean Town.

This area was made by new comers from Korea after the World War 2.

The center of this town is ‘Shokuan Street’ in Shin-Okubo

It has been one of most active areas since 2004　Korean boom.

There are many shops which sell the Korean pop stars’ pictures and Korean cosmetics

which are popular by cheap, but high qualityI visited this area for the first time at last weekend.

I was very surprised at a lot of big Hangul signs , not Japanese ones.

There are many stands, for example ,Hottoku , Korean rice cakes, and Korean interesting souvenirs.

I thought as if I were on the street in Myondon of Seoul.

I went to a supermarket named ‘Kankoku Hiroba’ which means Korean square.

I was excited to see many unfamiliar Korean foods, Korean sausage, sow's ears；

I tried a Chinese sausage, but I have never tried Korean one.

One of my Korean friends told me that ‘Japanese people think Korean dish is grilled beef,

But Korean people like to eat vegetables .’

I went to Korean restaurant in Seoul, I was surprised to eat many vegetables dishes.

I would like to learn how to cook Korean dishes in the near future.

The seventh of July is 'TANABATA' , the Star Festival.



According to Chinese legend, this is the one night of the year


when Altair, the Cowherd, can cross the Milky Way to meet


his lover Vega, the Weaver Princess.


Children are taught that their wishes will come true if they


write　them on decorative strips of paper called 'tanzaku' 


and hang　the strips out on bamboo poles on this day.
