Interesting Japanese custom Vol.26 "E-mail Symbols in Japan"

Hi, I'm Takeuchi from the Shimbashi Business Garden.

Japanese often use a symbol, writing an e-mail.
The symbol is used to express a feeling briefly than text.
It also has light tone, so especially younger people prefer to use it.

Even if there is no symbol, we may express our feeling with only one Chinese character such as (笑-smile ) (泣-tear) etc.
A feeling may also be expressed using a face mark like (^o^).
I think the reason why symbols are used in Japan is because of the popularity of comics and anime.

However, cautions are required!
It is used only in close relationship and don't use it in formal sentence!
